Job Summary:
We are seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing high-performance photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects. This role requires expertise in solar system design, energy modeling, and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize solar PV system designs for residential and commercial projects.
- Conduct site assessments to determine solar potential and system feasibility.
- Create electrical and mechanical system layouts using design software (PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope).
- Perform shading analysis and energy production forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC, IEEE, UL).
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless installations.
- Assist in interconnection applications, permitting, and utility approvals.
- Provide technical support during construction and post-installation phases.
Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
âś” 2+ years of experience in solar PV design or engineering.
âś” Proficiency in solar modeling and CAD software (PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, SketchUp).
âś” Strong understanding of NEC, UL, and industry safety standards.
âś” Experience with battery storage and hybrid solar systems (preferred).
âś” Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
âś” Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
